Free crochet pattern for a Pokemon baby hat, Pikachu beanie. This is a great beginner friendly pattern since the hat is worked in continues round without joining.

Finished size(s): To fit an average 6-18-month-old.
Finished Measurements: 17″ hat circumference.
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in yellow and black.
Sample Shown in: Lily Sugar ’n Cream (100% cotton; 120 yds [110 m]/ 2.5 oz [70.9 g]), 1 skein each.
Hook: US size G/6 (4.25 mm). Or hook necessary to obtain gauge.
Notions: Yarn needle; red and black felt; white puffy paint. Glue gun.
Gauge: 13 sts and 7.5 rows = 4″ in double crochet.
Note of gauge: The hat is designed at a slightly loose gauge.
Notes: The beanie is made in consecutive rounds without joining.
Pattern Instructions
Sides
Rnd 1: With Yellow, make an adjustable ring, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 9 dc) into the ring. Pull tail to tighten the ring – 11 sts.
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around – 22 sts.
Rnd 3: *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around – 33 sts.
Rnd 4: *Dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around – 44 sts.
Rnd 5: *Dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around – 55 sts.
Crown
Rnd 1: Dc in each st around.
Repeat rnd 1 – 5 more times.
Edging
Rnd 1: Hdc in next st, sc in each st around.
Fasten off Yellow.
Join White.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around.
Fasten off.
Ears (make two)
Rnd 1: With Black make and adjustable ring, 6 sc into the ring, pull tail to tighten the ring – 6 sts.
Rnd 2: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts.
Rnd 4-5: Repeat rnd 2.
Fasten off CC, join MC.
Rnd 6-14: Repeat rnd 2 in MC.
Rnd 15: *Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; repeat from * around – 9 sts. Sl st in next st.
Fasten off.
Finishing
Using a yarn needle and the yarn tail sew ears to the side of the hat. Weave in ends.
Cut two 1″ circles for eyes from black felt and 1.25″ circles for circles from red felt. Glue to the face using the picture as a guide. Place a dot of white puffy paint on the eyes. Either embroider the mouth with black yarn or use glue.
